FOLLOW & REACH OUT

Mediterranean style became a recognizable style in the early 20th century in the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea, including Spain, Italy, Greece, and southern France. However, Mediterranean style has ancient roots from classical Greek & Roman design, Moorish elements, and Renaissance techniques. The style complements the  sunny climates of the Mediterranean region, emphasizing the outdoor living and a connection to nature.

Here's how to express your style...

Mediterranean interior details are a harmonious blend of Greek, Roman, Renaissance, and Moorish influences. Greek and Roman details include arches, columns, courtyards, and covered walkways. Renaissance elements include grand staircases, large windows, and multi-level terraces or balconies. Whereas Moorish elements include ornate tile work, iron work, carved woodwork, and stucco detailing.

Interior finishes in Mediterranean style are inspired by the natural environment, traditional craftsmanship, and the rich cultural history.  Stucco, whitewashed, and brick walls bring a soft texture to the space. Whereas terracotta, slate stone, or wood bring a richness to the floors. Mosaic tile is a hallmark finish for backsplash paired with accents of wrought iron hardware and hand carved wood doors.

Now to furnish & decorate your space...

Mediterranean furniture is characterized by its elegance and detail, with a focus on natural materials. Hand-carved wood frames with rattan and linen are most popular for chairs. While tables tend to provide more of an accent with mosaic tile or wrought iron finishes. Lounge pieces are grounded with skirted bases and soft detailing.

Lighting in Mediterranean style plays a significant role in creating the warm, inviting, and elegant atmosphere. Wrought iron chandeliers and lanterns anchor the entries and dining rooms. Candle-style bulbs are used as a nod to its historic influences. Ceramic, marble, and stain glass lamps provide some color and texture into the space.

Mediterranean decorations are rich in texture, color, and its cultural influences. Hand-crafted terracotta pottery like vases & urns provide a rustic element, whereas hand-painted ceramic plates bring color and pattern into the space. Wrought iron candlesticks, copper trays, and hand-carved wood mirrors bring detail and richness.
